courtesy Bonfils, ca. 1870. Bonfils was a French photographer working in Lebanon who created an important visual record . This images shows part of the Baalbek Trilithon. The Trilithon is a series of three massive stones which are almost as big as Hajar el Hibla. They were moved up the hill in pre history and no one can say how! The Romans built their temple to Jupiter on this earlier foundation.
