- The Mile of Art running through London Fields, Broadway Market and Goldsmith's Row to the the Childrens' Farm in Hackney Road.

Walk the mile and you'll meet hundreds of painters, photographers, sculptors, jewellers, fabric designers, weavers, potters and glass makers

- professional artists, gifted amateurs, students who have never before had the opportunity to show their work. Some will be there to sell their masterpieces or take commissions - others just to be part of this glorious event.

And when you feel an art break coming on, the Mile features some of the best pubs, cafes and restaurants in London. "It's fun, it's free - and it's very professional," says organiser Stephen Selby. "We aim to make this second Mile of Art, one of the most important venues in London for art lovers to see new talent.

"Hackney is home for some of the capital's finest artists, this will be another chance to see so many of them together."

Patrick Hughes, local artist, who opened the Mile of Art '05, writes in the Shorditch Map: "The Mile of Art adds to the gaiety of nations, a mile long celebration of creativity...and you'll meet hundreds of painters photographers, sculptors jewellers, fabric designers weavers potters and glassmakers..." "with a snip of my scissors I cut the tape to declare The Mile of Art open..... this glorious event."
