GUIDELINES AND SCHEDULE for artists wishing to show their work in the second MILE OF ART 2006 event,
Sunday 1ST Oct 2006

Goldsmiths’ Row – Broadway market – London Fields

Thankyou for joining us. We wish to make your exhibition a pleasure and easy to take part in. Both the MILE OF ART and GRASSYARTZ events have become important low budget venues for talented yet mostly less well-known artists

Although not obligatory if the weather forecast is dry, we hope most of you will invest in your own inexpensive Gazebo to be completely independent, rather than relying on prefabricated market stalls. Apart from the extra space offered by a gazebo, you can then bring your own covered tables and boxes, chairs and whatever else you might need for the day.

Apart from the allocated market stalls in Broadway market, to make things simple, we have arranged for equal spaces along the eastern pathway of London Fields, and Goldsmith Row South for gazebos and umbrellas. The first to apply should be able to specifically identify their preferred spaces. The hours are;

DATE;       Sunday 1st October
HOURS
9.00 am set-up  (vehicles in)
10.30 am
(vehicles and bikes out)

PLEASE BE VERY QUIET SETTING UP IN ADJACENT RESIDENTIAL STREETS.

11.00 am. start.         (2.30 pm official welcoming)
5.00 pm.
finish    (vehicles allowed in 5.15pm)

(There will be stalls selling food or drinks on London Fields and Goldsmith Row, as well as stalls and hostelries in Broadway market and Pub on the Park).

All packing material and bikes, cars, barrows must be cleared and out of sight from 10.30am. Similarly you may not breakdown your display or leave before 5.00pm. (The biggest sales are frequently made during the last hour of any art event). Please do not expect to find a car parking space near your stand. But please park tidily while you unload so that other vehicles aren’t blocked in.

FINDING YOUR LOCATION
You will see from the map when booking, how the numbering system (and colour code) makes location simple. Just follow the tracking system at the organizers office at the OFF BROADWAY gallery. An organizers table will be available in each of the four sections to help you and the visitors. PORTALOOS will be available at regular intervals.

SECURITY
The Police have been notified of the event and are sure to visit during the day. The Special Constables will probably be around much of the time. But it will be up to you to keep your eyes open all the time, DON’T LEAVE HAND BAGS OR CAMERAS LYING AROUND.

 SETTING UP
Please try to start from about
8.30 am. We recommend that you bring a friend or two to help you cope with a potentially busy day. It will probably be sunny but cold, particularly before 11.00 am and after 3.00 pm in early October, so wrap up to stay warm.

Please mark all your prices on each item. It is required by law. Please have leaflets and business cards available, particularly as sales often occur days after shows end. It is recommended that you don’t let customers take pictures away unless paid for, or until cheques have been cleared. For your customers, ATM cash machines are available in at least two convenience stores in Broadway market

 RUBBISH
The cost is particularly low because each space-holder is responsible for keeping the surrounding space litter-free, particularly before leaving. This applies particularly to the food and take-way stalls. (Please take your litter boxes away at the end of the event.)

VERY URGENT PLEASE RESERVE YOUR SPACE ASAP. We estimate that most spaces will be booked early.
